Ultum Nature Systems Controsand features a line of natural aquarium sands and gravels designed for planted aquariums. Available in different grains and colors, each type produces a distinct look for various types of aquascaping styles. Controsand is a natural product and is safe for planted tank and freshwater aquariums. We recommend rinsing before use to remove finer grains and start with crystal clear water.

Choose from 3L and 8L bags. For general guidelines, the 3L bag is great for nano aquariums and sizes up to the UNS 45U rimless aquarium. The 8L bag is ideal for use in larger tanks starting at the UNS 60U and above! Shop all planted aquarium substrates!

Bora is a natural aquarium sand. Its fine grains contain a mixture of lighter tones that is perfect for highlighting vibrant aquatic plants, tropical livestock and darker aquascaping layout materials. Bora Controsand is a fantastic all-purpose choice for a variety of popular aquascaping styles. It is a neutral sand that will work beautifully in an Iwagumi style aquascape or nature style tanks containing aquarium driftwood. Our UNS 90L Iwagumi aquascape features Bora as the main sand in our substrate blend.
